Responsible Care is a worldwide voluntary initiative of the chemistry industry striving for a continuous improvement of the environment, the safety and the health.
Responsible Care was launched in Canada in 1987 and has been expanded over 45 countries since. This initiative was the response of the chemical association to the concerns of the public concerning the environment, the security and health.
The measures contained in Responsible Care extend beyond the law regulations of the majority of the countries.
Since Bodo Möller Chemie joined the VCH (Association of Chemical Trade and Distribution in Germany), we’ve been actively participating in the Responsible Care Programme. The implementation of this programme is our contribution to the sustainable development.
Main areas of the Responsible Care programme:
Safe and secured storage
The storage of chemical substances and all related actions comply with the relevant regulations. The storage and the removal from storage correspond to the storage concept of the VCI. The access to the storage areas is limited to only authorised persons.
Safe facilities
Our refilling facilities are extremely safe so that no harmful impact on the environment or on the health of our employees result from our operations. The safety measures taken are state-of-the-art.
Safe loading
Transports of chemical substances are handled with great care, especially for dangerous goods. We apply the ADR agreement for the transport of dangerous goods by road; the loads and safety equipment are checked regularly.
Protection of the environment
To participate in the protection of the environment Bodo Möller Chemie saves energy by using alternative solutions and is continuously enhancing his environment policy. Our company policy stipulates we should save resources and actively optimise our potentials.
Safety of the employees
Safety at work and security are two main topics for Bodo Möller Chemie. As a result for our efforts in this field we have no recorded accidents for many years. To minimize danger at work, our employees are trained regularly and we set up very clear work processes at the highest safety level.
Product Stewardship
Product stewardship is a principle that focuses all participants involved in the life cycle of a product to take shared responsibility for the impacts to human health and the natural environment that result from the production, use, and end-of-life management of the product. At Bodo Möller Chemie we assume our responsibilities in these areas of influence, for example we do not market adhesives to private customers or we do not export chemicals that could be used to produce weapons. We do not sell any hazardous chemicals of very high concern and always look for alternatives to dangerous goods.
We always issue new Safety Data Sheets to our customers when an update is required. And our customers also receive all necessary documents concerning the products delivered.
Communication
Bodo Möller Chemie works closely with the authorities, makes available all information concerning the company, cultivates public relations and foster internal communication with employees. We ask our customers for their opinion and suggestions. This contributes to strengthen their confidence in our company.
Bodo Möller Chemie will continue to apply the Responsible Care programme and will be reviewed in three years in order to remain a member of the programme.
