Silicone Adhesives stand up to tough demands for a variety of applications including areas where organic material may struggle. In principle it could be divided in Silicone adhesives which cure at room temperature as RTV Silicones and such cured by heat. These products were distinguished like the following.
- Acetoxy Curing Systems, Characteristics: 1-Component adhesive; General purpose acetoxy RTV-System. Cures to a rubbery solid at room temperature on exposure to water vapor in the air. Products has a long shelf life, when fully cured applies with UL regulations, NSF and FDA; products perform at temperatures ranging from -65°C to +300°C; generally short cure time; good adhesion to various metals, plastics and glass; non reversible curing; easy to work; very good adhesion. Standard systems are: BluestarŽ RhodorsilŽ CAF 30, RhodorsilŽ CAF 33, RhodorsilŽ CAF 36, RhodorsilŽ CAF 4
- Alcoxy Curing Systems , Characteristics: 1-Component neutral cure RTV adhesive and sealants; cures at room temperature when exposed to moisture in the air; non corrosive; low odour; excellent adhesion to many substrates; products perform at temperatures ranging from -55°C to +180°C, high mechanical properties and long shelf life. Standard systems are: BluestarŽ RhodorsilŽ CAF 50, RhodorsilŽ CAF 510, RhodorsilŽ CAF 505, RhodorsilŽ CAF 520
- Oxime Adhesives (Neutral), Characteristics: 1-Component oxime RTV silicone adhesives and sealants; cures on exposure to water vapor in the air; non corrosive, low odour; excellent adhesion to most metals and plastics; perform at temperatures ranging from -60°C to +300°C, best mechanical properties, new systems fulfill with low Meko content < 1% all new regulations like 67/548/EEC. New systems are: BluestarŽ CAF 240, RhodorsealŽ 5552
- 2-Component RTV Silicone Adhesive- and Sealants (Polyaddition reaction)
RhodorsilŽ ESA a 2-component, fast curing system has a outstanding resistance to thermal, climatic and environmental attacks. Rhodorsil ESA is designed for bonding metal or plastic surfaces to silicone elastomer, especially in Electrical industries. Other fast curing systems are the RhodorsilŽ AXAD and AXAD Plus technology which meet the requirements for high productivity and boost the curing speed to an average of 20 minutes at room temperature. It has excellent mechanical properties.
